Epic Fortress

The inspiration for this project comes from some excellent work by a number of gamers and warhammer fluff.  An epic scale fortress wall set would be excellent to use on the battlefield.

Reading the novel Storm of Iron, a typical Imperium fortress has a gatehouse large enough to allow titan to walk through. Thus we have some scale and an idea.

The following is a start of the gatehouse. The outer doors are large enough to allow a Reavertitan to pass through.

new Epic buildings

Not bad in my opinion, made from warhammer 40k bits. Should work OK.

A Thousand Heroes

I need to repaint/touch up  companies 7, 8 and 9 or find alternative men. Think I have found a great UK source though :)

Looking at the fluff, the Chapter (as yet un named) requires additional armoured vehicles - especially Land raiders!

Looking at the quality of the painting last saturday at Skirmish (Cambs) my skills are lacking.

Work in progress

First things first - I spent last saturday participating at Skirmish in Cambridge (http://www.taccmd.tacticalwargames.net/viewtopic.php?f=88&t=20442) great fun. But, I will admit that my army was not very good, then again it was chosen without actually playing Epic Amageddon.

I did manage to fit in 3 games before then event and 3 games on saturday - now I can probably pick a decent SM 2000 point army.

All in all it was a good day out and the guys showed a lot of sportsmanship.

without further ado - some WIP

Building - warhammer 40k bits and plastic card. I do need to address the roof.

Waaarrgghhh - here come the Orks - dakka dakka

More to follow i am sure>

Primers

Primers - we all use them, but which one provides best value for money?

Games workshop  - pretty decent, good coverage and nice size but at £9.50 for 400ml an expensive choice.

Army painter  - Similar price and effect as Games workshop, similar size can. I will say that the range of colours available is excellent and is a good choice for a speciffic colour prime.

Simoniz - 500ml can, £4.00, yes £4.00. I like this and the quality of prime is great. Go visit your local car part shop. (thanks to PAR for the tip).

A quick word on stripping - paint stripping! our US cousins have Simple Green and we in the UK have Fairy power spray. I have sucessfully stripped resin, plastic and metal very well. The trip is to leave the figures for long enough and ensure an adequate coat of the spray.

Available in  most supermarkets!
